Patna: Ex-servicemen of Bihar accorded an emotional farewell to Major General Vikas Bhardwaj, General Officer Commanding (GOC) Jharkhand and Bihar Sub Area, at a function held at Danapur Cantonment on Wednesday.Retired defence personnel gathered to honour Major General Bhardwaj for his distinguished tenure and contributions to the welfare of veterans, serving personnel and war widows. Speakers recalled several welfare initiatives undertaken during his tenure, noting that his efforts brought renewed recognition and dignity to the armed forces community in the sub area.Col Om Prakash said Col V K Singh presented Major General Bhardwaj with a statue of Lord Buddha as a token of respect and gratitude. In his address, Major General Bhardwaj lauded the officers and jawans of the Bihar Regiment for their bravery and exemplary fighting prowess.He also appreciated the Bihar govt’s initiative of recruiting around 17,000 ex-servicemen and defence personnel into state govt services, describing it as a commendable step towards their rehabilitation.
