Chennai: Tamizhaga Vazhvurimai Katchi founder T Velmurugan on Sunday sought an additional seat from the DMK. He has also placed 10 demands including implementation of vanniyar quota and conducting the caste census. Velmurugan told reporters, he would take a decision on the alliance after DMK responds to his demands. He said these demands were of paramount importance and that he would ally with parties that are ready to fulfill them. In 2021, Velmurugan contested one seat in the DMK alliance and won. This time, he is seeking two seats. However, the DMK has conveyed that it could only allot one seat to Velmurugan considering the entry of more political parties into the alliance. PWD minister E V Velu spoke to Velmurugan, assuring him, his demands would be communicated to chief minister M K Stalin on Monday.
