Ajmer: Members of Valmiki community in Ajmer Tuesday took out a rally to the collectorate and there raised slogans against police and administration, followed by some of the protesters toppling barricades placed outside the gate and barging into the collectorate. When police tried to stop them, a scuffle broke out and agitated protesters dragged the barricades along with them deep inside the collectorate campus.Additional SP (Ajmer Rural) Deepak Kumar reached the spot and assured the community of a fair investigation into the recent attack by some men on two Valmiki youths. The protesters warned him that if all the accused were not arrested within 24 hours, they would launch a major agitation. Community representative Anil Narwal said that on March 8 around 11pm, some men attacked two youths of Valmiki community with sticks, iron rods, knives, and other weapons at Gulab Bari Naka. He said the duo was also humiliated with casteist slurs. He alleged that the attackers also carried a revolver and opened fire in the air. Both youths sustained serious injuries and their family members lodged a case at Alwar Gate police station, but police had taken no action so far. ASP Kumar said the SHO and CO of the area had been directed to take swift action in the case.
