Hyderabad: Irrigation minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy on Saturday accused the BJP-led central govt of intentionally discriminating against Telangana by failing to fulfil even the promises made under the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act.“There is a massive gap between the BJP’s words and its actions on fund allocation to Telangana. The state has not received any significant central funding for key sectors and projects,” Uttam Kumar Reddy said during election rallies in the ULBs located within the Nizamabad parliamentary constituency limits.Uttam, along with SC, ST, and minority welfare minister Adluri Lakshman Kumar, addressed street-corner meetings in Korutla, Metpally, Bheemgal, and Armoor municipalities. They said strong winds were blowing in favour of the Congress, with surveys predicting a clean sweep in the upcoming polls.“The positive response from voters indicates the end of opposition dominance, even in ULBs, long considered their strongholds. Korutla municipality, which was established in 1988, was neglected under the previous BRS regime. People are happy with the welfare and development agenda of the Congress govt,” he said, expressing confidence that urban voters would deliver a massive victory to the party in the municipal elections. The ministers highlighted welfare schemes introduced since Dec 2023, including free RTC bus travel for women, 200 units of free electricity, free distribution of fine rice and LPG cylinders at Rs 500, among others. Addressing the minority community at another street-corner meeting, Uttam said the Congress had always stood with them and reaffirmed the party’s commitment to secular ideology.
