Chandigarh: Chandigarh Police have brought two alleged shooters to the city on a production warrant in the Sector-21 builder firing and ₹5-crore extortion case. The accused, brought from Ludhiana by Sector-19 police, were produced in court and sent to two-day police remand for interrogation. The duo has been identified as Ramandeep Singh alias Aakash, 22, of Mullanpur, Mohali, and Narendra Dheer alias Aakash, 23, of SBS Nagar. Police said both are linked to the Kaushal Chaudhary gang.During questioning, it allegedly emerged that a youth named Jaanu had promised each shooter ₹20,000 to fire outside the house of builder Ankit Sidana. Police have now named Jaanu in the FIR and are probing his connection with gangsters Doni Bal and Kaushal Chaudhary, who are already accused in the case. Sector-19 police are also preparing to bring Chaudhary on production warrant on March 15. Police said Chaudhary had fractured both legs while jumping a wall during an escape attempt in Ludhiana but has since recovered. The firing took place around midnight on January 16, 2026, when bike-borne assailants allegedly fired five rounds outside Sidana’s Sector-21 bungalow. Sidana, who had returned from Dubai a day earlier, was at home with his wife and five Punjab Police gunmen. Due to dense fog and the late hour, the gunmen mistook the shots for firecrackers. A white slip found the next morning read: “With Love From Mohabbat Randhawa And Pawan Shaukeen.“Later, Sidana received a 32-second WhatsApp call from a foreign number demanding ₹5 crore and claiming responsibility for the firing. Police later linked the incident to a January 10 shooting at a Ludhiana car showroom, where a similar slip was recovered. Handwriting analysis confirmed both slips were written by the same person.Ludhiana Police had already arrested the two shooters in the car-showroom case. During interrogation, they confessed to the Sector-21 firing as well, prompting Chandigarh Police to bring them on production warrant.
