The BBC’s Carl Nasman was at the US men’s national team squad reveal in New York City on Tuesday, where he spoke with fans about this year’s World Cup.

The last time the US hosted a World Cup was in 1994, when the tournament featured 52 matches across nine American cities. This year’s tournament, co-hosted by the US, Canada and Mexico, has generated criticism over soaring ticket prices and concerns over lower-than-expected hotel bookings in several host cities.

Ticket prices for the 19 July final at MetLife Stadium have reached nearly $8,000 (£5,900). Meanwhile, the American Hotel & Lodging Association has found that bookings are well below expectations in almost every host city.
