Hyderabad: AIMIM president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi on Sunday termed the reported assassination of Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei an immoral and unlawful act, and expressed hope that the central govt will strongly condemn it.“We hope that the govt of India will condemn the killing of Khamenei. If this illegal war does not stop, the consequences will be serious. We are underestimating the situation. Also, the attempts by US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to bring about regime change in Iran will not be successful,” claimed Asaduddin.Citing reports of casualties, the Hyderabad MP said many died, and another 108 students died in an attack on a girls’ school. The closure of airspace and continuing bombardment across West Asia affected Indian expatriates working in the region, he said.“Such a situation and instability in West Asia will have direct economic implications for India, especially through rising oil prices and disruptions to remittances sent home by Indian workers. The govt of India should immediately ensure the safety and livelihoods of expatriates, many of whom were employed in countries affected by the conflict,” Asaduddin Owaisi said.
