Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Police has initiated a major reform drive by identifying 11 priority areas and assigning specific responsibilities to senior officers based on their expertise.The move has been initiated on the directives of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.Giving the details, DGP Rajeev Krishna said that the key areas include zero tolerance against crime and criminals, women empowerment and protection, tackling cybercrime, maintaining law and order, enhanced police services, police welfare, talent and expertise utilization, use of technology and AI in policing, training and capacity building, traffic management, and public grievance redressal.For, zero tolerance against crime and criminals, ADG crime, SK Bhagat will be the headquarters lead and Piyush Mordia, ADG, Varanasi zone will be the field lead.For women empowerment and protection sector, the headquarters lead will be Padmaja Chauhan, ADG, WCSO, Lucknow and field lead will be Anupam Kulshrestha, ADG, Agra Zone. For cybercrime, Binod Kumar Singh, ADG, Cyber Crime, Lucknow and Laxmi Singh, Commissioner of Police, Noida will be the headquarters and field leads respectively. The law and order sector will be led by Amitabh Yash, ADG, law & order, and Alok Singh, ADG, Kanpur Zone as field lead.For police services, the headquarters lead will be Naveen Arora, ADG, Technical Services and field lead will be Bhanu Bhaskar, ADG, Meerut Zone. For police welfare, RK Bhardwaj, IG, housing & welfare and Deepak Kumar, commissioner of police, Agra will be the headquarters and field leads respectively.The talent & expertise utilization sector will be looked after by Nachiketa Jha, IG, Establishment and Amrendra Kumar Sengar, commissioner of police, Lucknow.Similarly, the technology & AI head will be managed by Naveen Arora, ADG, Technical Services and Akhil Kumar, commissioner of police, Kanpur Nagar.The training & capacity building vertical will be headed by Rajeev Sabbarwal, ADG, Dr BRA Police Academy, Moradabad while Sanjeev Gupta, ADG, Prayagraj Zone will be the field lead.K Satya Narayan, ADG, Traffic will be the headquarters lead for the traffic management sector with Mohit Agarwal, commissioner of police as field lead. Public Grievance redressal vertical will be headed by Ramit Sharma, ADG, Bareilly Zone.“The initiative aims to enhance operational efficiency, citizen trust, and technology-enabled policing through targeted planning. Each priority area has been assigned to specific officers with relevant domain expertise, both at the field and at the headquarters level,” said the DGP.The state police chief said that relevant best practices from across the country and abroad must be studied and adapted to fit within the socio-political and administrative framework of Uttar Pradesh. The action plans should aim to simplify and enhance existing systems. They should be executable at the field level with ease and clarity for the implementing officers and personnel.Officers responsible for the preparation of the roadmaps must engage in consultations with related stakeholders, including police personnel of all ranks, subject experts, and civil society representatives.
