Mysuru: The Educational Multimedia Research Centre (EMRC), University of Mysore, has achieved remarkable recognition at the 27th CEC-UGC Educational Film Festival organised by the Consortium for Educational Communication (CEC), New Delhi.This year, the festival received an impressive total of 320 film entries from across the country. Out of these, only 19 documentaries and educational videos were selected for awards, highlighting the highly competitive nature of the event. Among the distinguished winners, EMRC, University of Mysore, earned the Best Film/Documentary Award, which was conferred upon Chandra Kumar PH (director & producer) for the film ‘The Divine Sculptor – Arun Yogiraj.‘ The award includes a cash prize of Rs 50,000. The documentary showcases the life, achievements and craftsmanship of renowned sculptor Arun Yogiraj, who recently gained national recognition for sculpting the idol of Ram Lalla at Ayodhya.In addition, under the Best Editing Award of Citation (Individual Excellence Category), the award was presented to K Gopinath for the documentary ‘Kalaripayattu–The Indian Martial Arts.’ The film provides a compelling overview of the history of Kalaripayattu, one of India’s oldest martial art forms. The documentary is directed and produced by K Gopinath. NK Lokanath, vice-chancellor of University of Mysore, congratulated the awardees.
