Udupi: With the SSLC exam set to be held from March 18 to April 2 at 51 centres in the district, deputy commissioner of Udupi Swaroopa TK instructed officials to ensure that students can take the exam smoothly and without fear, avoiding any confusion.“The SSLC exam plays a crucial role in shaping children’s futures, and it is essential to maintain the sanctity of the exam and conduct it smoothly. The district administration will provide full support for this,” she said, urging officials to work in coordination to achieve a 100% pass rate in the district.She was speaking while presiding over the SSLC exam preparatory meeting held at the DC’s office auditorium in Manipal. There are 7,353 boys, and 6,798 candidates are girls. The exam will be conducted in 51 centres, including 15 in Udupi zone, 11 in Brahmavar, nine in Karkala, and eight each in Byndoor and Kundapura, she said.“CCTV must be installed in all exam centres and campuses. A total of 686 rooms are designated for exam activities across these centres. To ensure successful management of the exam, 1,350 officers and staff, including supervisors, invigilators, local vigilance squad officers, mobile squad officers, district and taluk vigilance squads, and exam nodal officers, are already appointed,” the DC said.Students are prohibited from bringing mobile phones and smartwatches to exam centres. Clocks should be installed in the centres for students’ convenience. A team is appointed to ensure all basic facilities, including drinking water, are provided inside the centres, and they reported on the installation of these facilities. For students coming from rural areas, adequate bus services should be arranged to ensure timely arrival at exam centres, and bus stops should be made available near the centres. Instructions were given to KSRTC officials to ensure this, she said.Precaution against heatstrokeConsidering the possibility of heatstroke due to the sun, medical staff should be appointed to provide emergency treatment at exam centres, and ORS solutions should be stocked in large quantities, as instructed to health department officials.Additional deputy commissioner Abid Gadyal said given the onset of summer, basic facilities, including drinking water, should be provided in the centres, and students should be cared for as our own children.
