Varanasi: In two separate incidents in Sonbhadra district, two men beat their wives to death on Monday night.Sonbhadra ASP (operations) T N Tripathi said on Tuesday that on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday, Shivmurti Gaur, in an intoxicated state, beat his wife, Pramila (35), to death in Chapki village under Babhani police station. Gaur was arrested by police and body was sent for post mortem.The second incident took place in Teljarki village under Babhani police station, where Bablu beat his wife Phulmati to death and fled the scene. Police teams started a manhunt for Bablu and sent the body for postmortem.During investigation of the Chapki incident, it came to light that Pramila used to stop Shivmurti from consuming liquor, which led to frequent quarrels between them. On Sunday night, when he returned home drunk, he beat her brutally and locked the door from outside and left again. When he returned home on Monday morning, his wife was dead.
