Jamshedpur: Two persons were injured in an IED blast in West Singhbhum’s Saranda forest on Tuesday, police said.The incident occurred about 5 km from the forest village of Tirilposi, which falls under the remote Jaraikela police station limits.
“Both the villagers who have suffered injuries had ventured into the forest to collect firewood and accidentally stepped on the IED,” SP Amit Renu said.The explosive is suspected to be planted by the Maoists to target the security forces, he added.Both the injured are male members of the village and have been identified as Salai Cherva and Jaisingh Cherva.The villagers provided first aid to the injured even as police rushed to the incident site for rescue operation.
