Gumla: Three persons were arrested, while two minors were detained on Friday on the charges of forcibly abducting and raping a girl in Gumla district. One culprit has been absconding, police said.The accused have been identified as Salan Barla, Bandhan Barla and Biraj Barla and two juveniles, all residents of the same village. The incident happened early morning on May 17 when three girls were returning home after attending a local function.The six accused chased and caught hold of the girls. While two of the girls managed to flee, the third was raped by the culprits.The police officer of the station under the jurisdiction of which the crime occurred said, “The survivor was 18 years of age and she reached the police station on Friday and lodged a complaint, saying the culprits threatened to chop her body and threw them into a well if she narrated the crime to anyone. Following the complainant, we have arrested the trio and detained the minors. One is still at large.”
