Udupi: Kundapur Rural police arrested two persons and identified over 20 others in connection with a viral video involving a minor, and a subsequent incident of threats near a barber shop in Kandluru Pete. Based on a complaint filed by the father of a minor boy from Bihar who is in conflict with the law, Kundapur Rural police registered a case regarding the filming and circulation of a video on social media.
The incident occurred at 6 pm on Feb 22, when the minor was at a salon in Kandluru Pete. A video of the boy speaking at the shop was recorded and later circulated on social media, with the alleged intention of provoking public unrest and inciting disturbance. In a related development, another case was registered based on a complaint by the shop owner, Shashank Bhandary, who alleged that a group of people gathered in front of his shop and issued threats in connection with the incident. Police said around 20 to 30 suspects were identified so far, and legal action was initiated against them. Efforts are under way to identify another 25 to 30 suspects, and action will be taken accordingly, police said. Kundapur Rural police rushed to the spot and initiated legal proceedings. Police arrested two suspects, Shashank Bhandary,30, and Pramod D’Souza,25, from Kavradi village, Kundapur taluk. Both the suspects were produced before the court, and further investigation is in progress .
