Madikeri: Two bikers were killed on the spot in a collision involving a car and two motorcycles within Gonikoppa police limits on Saturday afternoon.The accident occurred near the BCK junction on the state highway along the Mysuru–Thithimathi Road in Ponnampet taluk.The deceased were identified as Mohammed Shiab, 27, of Palakkad, Kerala, and Shivakumar (25), a resident of Nanjangud. Both were riding motorcycles at the time of the incident.According to police, Shivakumar had travelled from Nanjangud to his wife’s house in Hanugod village on his bike and later proceeded towards Gonikoppa. While returning to Hanugod, he reportedly lost control of his vehicle and rammed into a car.Following the collision, Mohammed Shiab, who was riding another motorcycle behind Shivakumar, also lost control due to the impact and crashed into the same car. He died on the spot. Adinar, 22, who was riding pillion with Mohammed Shiab, sustained minor injuries and is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Mysuru.Mohammed Shiab had earlier offered prayers at a mosque in Gonikoppa and was heading towards the Golden Temple at Kushalnagar via Thithimathi when the accident occurred.The car driver, Jayalingaswamy, a resident of Mysuru, and his co-passenger, Prajwal, have been detained by Gonikoppa police for questioning.
