Patna: Two people were arrested in Muzaffarpur on Sunday for allegedly conspiring to murder a man over his wife’s alleged relationship with them. The victim was shot dead by hired shooters in Motipur police station area on April 2, police said.The deceased, Makeshwar Pandit, 45, was a resident of Senduari Ganjsingh village and sold clay utensils at Motipur Bazar. The arrested accused have been identified as Munna, his neighbour, and Mahesh, the deceased’s brother-in-law.Police said Pandit had married around 12 years ago and is survived by two daughters and a son, all below 10 years of age. Munna lived in the neighbourhood and frequently visited Pandit’s house. During this time, he developed a close relationship with Pandit’s wife.Mahesh also used to visit the house occasionally and was allegedly involved in a relationship with her. Munna was aware of this and the two men were on friendly terms.Muzaffarpur West SDPO Suchitra Kumari said, “Around a week before the murder, Makeshwar caught his wife talking to Munna on the phone. After this, Makeshwar went to Munna’s house and complained. Meanwhile, a dispute also took place between Makeshwar and Munna. After this incident, Munna, along with Mahesh, hired shooters to kill Makeshwar.”A case was registered at Motipur police station on the statement of the deceased’s father. Police have arrested the two accused, while the shooters remain absconding.
