Bicholim: Trenches dug by the electricity department along the bypass road from Bicholim bus stand to Van Maulinguem to lay underground electricity cables have become dangerous due to improper restoration. Locals said they cannot walk safely, while the two-wheeler riders fear accidents on the damaged stretch.“The road has become narrow as almost 2 metre of the stretch has not been repaired properly. Consequently, vehicles travelling towards Van Maulinguem and Chambharkond have to use the wrong side of the road to avoid the damaged road,” said Sushant Haldankar, a local from Van Maulinguem.“There is a risk of accidents as the two-wheelers may skid due to improper restoration of the road. I have seen about 40-50 spots from the bus stand to Van Maulinguem wherein the left portion of the road has not been restored properly,” said Vithoba Malik, a local.Villagers have urged the electricity department to restore the road at the earliest to avoid inconvenience.
