Mumbai: Torrent Group on Monday said it has entered into the diagnostics market with the launch of Torrent Diagnostics and the opening of India’s largest National Reference Laboratory in Navi Mumbai, the company claimed.
The 100,000‑sq‑ft lab which marks the Group’s expansion into diagnostic services supports 15 diagnostic disciplines and more than 3,500 test modalities, covering preventive, routine and specialised testing.
The testing services include molecular diagnostics, genomics, digital pathology, microbiology, immunology, transplant-related testing and infectious disease workflows, it said.
“Diagnostics is a discipline where trust is built through process integrity, scientific depth and consistency over time. As Torrent enters the diagnostics space, we have approached this business with a long-term perspective, starting with a strong scientific foundation.
Anchoring the organisation around a national reference laboratory allows us to offer one of the widest test menus in the industry as well as define strong governance structures, validation frameworks and quality standards,” said Varun Mehta, Director at Torrent Group.
The company said that the laboratory offers one of the most extensive test menus in the country, supported by advanced capabilities such as Next Generation Sequencing, MALDI-TOF, BSL-3 containment and the first Transmission Electron Microscope in a standalone diagnostics lab in Western India”.
The National Reference Laboratory is staffed by a highly skilled and experienced scientific and technical team, with domain leadership across disciplines to ensure rigour, compliance and continuous quality assurance, it further said.
