Kharagpur: Trinamool issued a show-cause notice to woman party member Baby Kole after a CPM veteran alleged he was slapped, kicked, punched, hit with shoes, dragged out when he tried to seek refuge and smeared with paint on his face by Kole and three of her associates in the Kharida area of Kharagpur, West Midnapore recently.Anil Das, the CPM veteran, lodged a complaint at the Kharagpur Town police station. He said: “A few days ago, Trinamool people demolished the wall of a local woman’s toilet. I protested and went to the police station with her to file a complaint. I was attacked for standing against injustice. The four involved must be arrested. Otherwise, we will launch a larger protest.”BJP district spokesperson Arup Das condemned the attack, saying, “Trinamool is not even sparing the elderly. The way he was beaten on the street is deplorable.”Trinamool district president Sujay Hazra demanded severe punishment for the assault of an elderly politician. He said Baby Kole holds no position in the party and assured that steps would be taken to prevent her from representing Trinamool in the future. Attempts to contact Baby were unsuccessful as she did not answer her phone.
