Ranchi: Preparations have been intensified at the Transport Nagar counting centre in Ranchi and strong room complex for Friday’s civic poll results, with elaborate security and surveillance measures in place. Ballot boxes for mayoral and ward seats remain sealed inside 28 strong rooms under round-the-clock CCTV monitoring, three-layered security cover and regulated entry protocols. The counting will decide the fate of candidates in polls that recorded an overall turnout of 63.05% across the state. In the Ranchi Municipal Corporation area, voter participation stood at 43.43%, while the Bundu Nagar Panchayat registered a higher turnout of 74.07%.Officials said a three-tier security arrangement has been enforced on the Ring Road premises, with barricading at multiple checkpoints and strict access control. Cameras have been installed outside every strong room, and a central control room is monitoring live feeds continuously. Sub-divisional officer (Sadar) Kumar Rajat said the counting process is likely to be conducted in three to four phases. “Two wards have been mapped to one strong room, and all arrangements have been streamlined. Around 300 to 400 personnel, including counting staff and security forces, have been deployed to ensure smooth conduct,” he said.Addressing concerns raised earlier regarding surveillance and power disruptions, Rajat added, “The technical glitches that were pointed out have been rectified. All CCTV feeds are functioning properly now, and backup power arrangements are in place.”
