Bengaluru: A 52-year-old businessman was allegedly assaulted in a road rage incident in Kodigehalli Tuesday night, prompting police to launch a manhunt for the main suspect.According to a complaint filed by Ajit Singh, police have detained a few individuals while efforts continue to trace the prime attacker. The incident occurred at 8.30pm as Singh was approaching his apartment in Tatanagar.A heated argument broke out after Singh allegedly made a sudden right turn. Two youths on a motorcycle, coming from the opposite direction, objected, accusing him of failing to use an indicator. The altercation quickly escalated, with both sides exchanging abuses.Police said the youths repeatedly questioned Singh about his “local” status and demanded identity proof. “Though Singh responded in fluent Kannada, they continued to ask if he was a non-local,” an officer said, adding that more youths soon joined the group.The confrontation turned violent when the group allegedly assaulted Singh, beating him and hitting his legs with a wooden board pulled from a nearby chicken shop. As Singh attempted to drive towards his apartment, the assailants reportedly chased him and issued further threats.The suspects fled when a Hoysala patrol vehicle reached the spot after being alerted by Singh’s family.A case has been registered at Kodigehalli police station under sections 115 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 116 (grievous hurt) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Police said some associates involved in the attack have been detained and the prime suspect will be apprehended soon.
