Chennai: Three people were arrested for snatching nine sovereigns of gold jewellery from a 63-year-old woman. On March 14, Tamizhselvi, 63, a resident of West Mambalam, stepped out of an autorickshaw and was walking towards her apartment when an unidentified man snatched her gold chain and fled.Police tracked down Srinivasan alias Burma Seenu, 50, of Royapuram, who had gone to prison last Oct for robbery and was released on March 6. He turned to crime once again when he couldn’t pay off a loan. He pledged the chain in the account of Kumaran, 34, an autorickshaw driver from Mylapore, and got 5.2 lakh. Of this, Seenu gave 2 lakh to Anita, an associate of a history-sheeter named Bombay Sathya. Police arrested Kumaran and Anita and seized 1.91lakh. All three were remanded in judicial custody. TNN
