Gurgaon: Three men involved in the abduction, torture and confinement of five boys for over 15 hours in the Nathupur area of Gurgaon are yet to be arrested. While two of the accused were arrested on Wednesday, raids were on to trace the remaining three, police said on Thursday.The five accused had picked up the boys after suspecting them of theft from an under-construction building in DLF Phase 3 on Monday morning.
According to police, the men accused the boys of stealing iron rods and other construction material from the site and took them to a nearby paying guest accommodation, run by one of their associates. Police said the children were released late on Monday night after three mothers tracked them down and pleaded with the suspects for nearly five hours. The suspects allegedly forced the women to sit with the children and abused them too, police added.The complaint filed by the mother of one of the boys said that the children, aged between 10 and 13 years, were picked up and taken to a nearby paying guest accommodation. It said the boys were assaulted, stripped and subjected to sexual assault. The accused also poured petrol on the children’s private parts and inflicted burns by using hot spoons, it added.On Tuesday, one woman approached the Nathupur police post and filed a complaint. Police registered an FIR at DLF Phase 3 police station against five suspects under Sections 10 (aggravated sexual assault) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (Pocso) and sections 115 (voluntarily causing hurt), 127(2) (wrongful confinement), 287 (negligent conduct with respect to fire or combustible matter), 3(5) (common intention) and 351(3) (criminal intimidation by threatening to cause death or grievous hurt) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.The arrested men were identified as Harendra (35), a Gurgaon resident who runs a flour mill and is also involved in rental property work, and Firoz (26), a native of Uttar Pradesh who owns a utensil shop in the city.During questioning, the accused told police they often gathered near the site to smoke hookah and had discussed repeated thefts of construction material. Police said on Thursday that one of the arrested men was overseeing work at the building, which was being developed for use as a paying guest facility, while others were present as workers or associates.Medical examinations of the children have been conducted and statements are being recorded. Police said teams are scanning CCTV footage from nearby areas and questioning locals to identify and arrest the remaining suspects.
