New Delhi: Delhi Police recently arrested a person who allegedly had ties to a terror outfit that carried out an attack in Punjab. The accused was identified as Akashdeep Singh, a 22-year-old resident of Amritsar, Punjab. He was allegedly involved in a case of grenade attack at a police station in Batala, Gurdaspur district, Punjab, in April. The attack was claimed by Happy Passia and other members of BKI, who also extended threats to Delhi.The special cell had been tracking Akashdeep for some time, developing intelligence on gangsters and terrorists who could pose a threat to national security and law and order in Delhi. Based on a tip-off, he was arrested from Indore, Madhya Pradesh, where he was working as a crane operator at a construction site. During interrogation, Akashdeep said that he was in contact with a handler, who was based abroad and operating on behalf of BKI. He allegedly received instructions through social media applications to carry out criminal and terror activities.
