Hyderabad: Deputy chief minister Bhatti Vikramarka on Wednesday informed the assembly that the govt is examining a proposal to select one village in every mandal of Telangana to be taken up as a pilot project for solar power generation.“At present, under a pilot initiative, solar power generation is being implemented in 81 villages across the state, covering both domestic and agricultural sectors. As part of this programme, solar plants are being installed for 38,216 households and 16,078 agricultural pump sets,” Bhatti said while replying to queries raised by members on solar power, during question hour.Stating that the govt is committed to large-scale production of green energy, the deputy chief minister said that under the rooftop solar scheme for households, 2 kW capacity rooftop solar systems have been installed in 40,349 houses under the PM Surya Ghar Bijli Yojana. For the agricultural sector, under PM-KUSUM Component-C, 7.5 kW high-rise solar plants have been installed, benefiting 16,708 agricultural pump sets.
