Hyderabad: With Telangana preparing for its first full-fledged Census exercise since state formation, the administrative machinery has begun an extensive training and mobilisation drive to ensure smooth execution of the massive survey.Training of trainers for master trainers will be held from March 5 to 8, followed by field-level training for 1,220 staff drawn from various departments. Census officials will soon meet district collectors to create awareness and streamline coordination. The population count will treat each revenue village and urban ward as a separate unit, with every enumerator assigned an area covering around 800 people. Special focus will be given to training personnel who are not familiar with technology to ensure smooth conduct of the online exercise. The field training is expected to conclude by April.The initial house listing phase will be conducted from May 11 to June 9, as finalised in a cabinet meeting. All available departmental staff, including village-level teachers, will be deployed, with collectors asked to identify required personnel. The population enumeration is scheduled from Feb 9 to 28, 2027, and will be conducted entirely online through a nationwide app. Revenue villages and urban wards will be treated as separate units, each covering around 800 people per enumerator. The exercise will cover 621 rural mandals, 9,983 revenue villages, 134 towns and urban areas, including GHMC, requiring an estimated 88,000 personnel.
