Davangere: Two minors were detained for allegedly attempting to assault a 7-year-old girl on Sunday in a village in the taluk after she returned from playing. The authorities took two juveniles, aged 17 and 15, into custody following accusations of sexual misconduct. The survivor is currently receiving treatment at the district hospital. The incident occurred when the girl visited her neighbour’s house to play with the 17-year-old boy. The 15-year-old boy, who was also present, enticed her. Subsequently, both boys allegedly tried to assault her. The situation came to light when the girl’s mother, while searching for her daughter, arrived at the scene and raised an alarm. Local residents quickly gathered, apprehended the boys, and handed them to the police. “It is not confirmed whether an assault occurred. The girl and the boys were subjected to medical examination. A decision on filing an assault case will be made based on the medical report,” a police officer stated.
