Bengaluru: In a shocking late-night robbery, a 19-year-old boy studying in ninth standard at a private school and working as a part-time delivery boy was assaulted by a gang of three miscreants and forced to transfer Rs 49,000 online near Nexus Mall recently.The victim, identified as Gopikishan, a resident of Tavarekere in Suddaguntepalya and a native of Uttar Pradesh, filed a complaint with Adugodi police, stating the incident occurred around 1.30 am on March 31. The miscreants allegedly threatened him at knifepoint and robbed him of money through online transactions.Gopikishan said he has been working as a part-time delivery boy at night and during holidays to meet his educational and daily expenses. While he and his friend Omkar were waiting for an order outside the mall, three miscreants approached them. The accused demanded money and assaulted both boys, hitting them on the face and hands. They checked their pockets. When they found no cash, the miscreants snatched Gopikishan’s mobile phone and forcibly obtained the password to his digital payment application, PhonePe.The accused transferred Rs 49,000 in multiple transactions. Before fleeing, they threatened the boys with dire consequences if they approached police.A frightened Gopikishan lodged a complaint only on Sunday, following the advice of his family members and friends. Police registered a case of robbery and launched a manhunt for the accused.
