Lucknow: A 19-year-old girl allegedly died by suicide soon after her 22-year-old boyfriend and two of his nephews, aged 20 and 21, called her to their home, misbehaved with her, and threatened to kill her in Uttar Pradesh’s Ambedkar Nagar on Tuesday.On the complaint of her father, police booked the alleged boyfriend, Anuj, and his nephews Suraj (20) and Golu (21) for abetment to suicide and harassment. While Anuj, who works in Gujarat, is on the run, the nephews have been detained for questioning at Aliganj police station.As per the FIR, Suraj and Golu called the girl to their house on some pretext on Tuesday around 2.30pm. Once she reached there, they snatched her mobile phone and began checking it. When she protested, they allegedly misbehaved with her, hurled abuse, and threatened to kill her. Humiliated, the girl reportedly returned home and phoned her brother informing about the incident.Around 3.30pm, her cousin returned from school and found her hanging in her room. Family and neighbours rushed her to a health facility in Tanda where doctors declared her dead.Police and a forensic team reached the spot and collected evidence. The girl’s last rites were performed after the postmortem on Tuesday evening.Circle officer Shubham Kumar said, “Two accused are being interrogated. Further legal action will follow based on evidence.”
