Kanpur: A 13-year-old girl died by suicide after a fight with her younger brother over playing Holi, in Kanpur Dehat on Thursday evening. Family members rushed her to the hospital, where the doctor declared her dead. Her father informed the police after which the police reached the hospital and sent the body for post-mortem.The girl had been asking her brother to not go out of the house and they both had a fight over this matter. The brother hit the girl with a stick on which the girl slapped him.Later, their parents intervened and scolded the girl. After some time everyone got busy with their work. Around 6 pm, the girl went into a room and hanged herself with her mother’s dupatta. When the mother saw the room closed, she knocked but there was no response. On breaking open the door they found the girl’s body hanging from the noose.The girl’s father brought the body down and took took her to the hospital where she was declared dead. Rura police chowki in-charge Vinod Kumar reached the spot and prepared the panchnama of the body. The body was sent for post-mortem and an investigation was initiated. “Further investigation into the matter is ongoing,” said the chowki in-charge.
