Bengaluru: An evening outing to shoot social media reels ended in a tragedy as a 15-year-old student fell to death from a dilapidated building in west Bengaluru Friday evening.Nishanth H, a Class 10 student, had appeared for his CBSE examinations that ended a week ago.According to police, Nishanth, who left his Ullala home around 4:30pm, met two friends, and the trio decided to shoot reels. One of them suggested visiting an abandoned resort building in D Group Layout for the shoot.Police said the building has remained vacant for nearly 20 years due to a legal dispute. A security guard is usually posted there from 8am to 5:30pm. Investigators suspect the boys entered the premises after the guard had left for the day by squeezing through a narrow passage beside the compound wall.Once inside, Nishanth climbed onto the wall of a tennis court structure and reached the roof, which had polycarbonate sheets installed for lighting. As he stepped onto one of the sheets, his friends standing below warned him not to walk on it and asked him to return. However, Nishanth had already walked a few steps across the sheet and was attempting to turn back when the fragile material suddenly gave way. He fell from a height of 35-40 feet, sustaining severe head injuries. His friends rushed him to a nearby hospital, but the doctors declared him brought dead.Police said the attempt to create social media content ultimately led to the fatal fall. Nishanth was the elder son of civil contractor Harsha. His grieving parents donated his eyes. A case of unnatural death has been registered at the Annapoorneshwarinagar police station.
