Nagpur: A teacher at a Zilla Parishad Primary School in Devdi Kala village, Kuhi taluka, in Nagpur district, allegedly mercilessly beat a young girl student for giving a wrong math answer. The incident, which occurred on March 10, saw intervention from Child Helpline (1098) and filing of an FIR against the teacher.According to details, the teacher’s severe beating caused serious injury to the student’s hand. The Child Helpline team visited the girl’s home for an inquiry and found attempts being made to suppress the matter. The girl’s father revealed that the teacher summoned the parents to the school and tried to obtain their signature on a blank paper. He also allegedly threatened to expel the girl if the incident was reported to anyone.Guided by district women and child development officer Sunil Mesare, district child protection officer Mustak Pathan, Child Helpline supervisor Aniket Bhivgade, and case worker Meenakshi Dhadade carried out the action. “Strict action will be taken against the guilty. Information about those threatening parents is being collected,” said Pathan.
