Jamshedpur: South Eastern Railway (SER) general manager Anil Kumar Mishra on Monday said that the model railway station project at Tatanagar will be completed in two and a half years.At present, a drive is underway to remove encroachment from the railway land and shift utilities, he added. The railway is building a state-of-the art model station at a cost of Rs 350 crore under Gati Shakti project.Mishra said that the Multi-Disciplinary Divisional Institute (MDDI), which has come up at the abandoned railway school in Bagbera, will go a long way in skilling the railway employees of the Chakradharpur division.“Along with the software engineering, data management, electrical, signalling and telecommunication, technical training pertaining to railway safety will be imparted to the employees at the institute,” Mishra said after inaugurating the MDDI campus on Monday.The GM said that SE Railway has entered into an agreement with the XLRI for advanced training in human resources and management. “Advance knowledge development and multi-discipline skilling of the employees is the basis of the partnership,” Mishra said.Mishra further said that the Tatanagar railway yard remodelling is expected to commence from May, following which punctuality of the goods and passenger trains will improve. The GM also said that the railways is not responsible for the rehabilitation of the vendors whose illegal shops are being removed from the railway land in Tatanagar. “Rehabilitation of the vendors is the responsibility of the state government,” Mishra said.
