Namakkal: More than 25 people, among them women, children and elderly, were bitten by a suspected rabid dog in Tiruchengode here between Saturday night and Sunday morning.The dog bite cases were reported in Ettimadai Puthur, Rajiv Nagar, Kombai Nagar, Velmurugan Nagar and nearby areas. The injured were taken to the govt hospital at Tiruchengode. While some were treated as outpatients, others were admitted to hospital. The incident caused panic in the area, with many residents arriving at hospital at night reporting dog bites. Local people urged the municipal administration to immediately capture the dog, which the civic authorities assured that would be done at the earliest.
