Mangaluru: Barke police have arrested an accused who was absconding for 17 years in connection with a copyright violation case. The accused, Riyaz, is a resident of Natekal, Deralakatte, Mangaluru.According to police, in connection with a case registered in 2009 at Barke police station under the Copyright Act, the accused was absconding. In 2016, the court converted the case into a long pending case.City police commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy CH stated that the accused, Riyaz, was traced and arrested by Barke police station staff on Tuesday. He was produced before a court, which remanded him in judicial custody.Absconding suspect from Kerala heldIn another case, Vittal police of Dakshina Kannada arrested a man who was absconding without appearing before the court for trial. The accused is Mohammed Fayaz,33, a resident of Manjeshwar, Kerala. He was absconding without appearing before the court for trial in connection with a case registered at the Vittal police station in 2009.Vittal police station ASI Jayaram, along with staff members, traced and arrested the accused at Bayaru Padav in Manjeshwar on Tuesday. The accused was subsequently produced before a court.
