Bengali actress Subhashree Ganguly returned to Kolkata on Friday along with her son after being stranded in Dubai for several days amid the escalating conflict in West Asia.The actress and her son Yuvaan arrived in the city via Mumbai and were received at the airport by her husband, filmmaker and Raj Chakraborty, who is also a TMC MLA.Speaking to reporters after landing, Subhashree described the situation in Dubai as deeply unsettling. “It was a very frightening situation. I am so devastated that I am not in a position to share my experiences right now,” she said.She also thanked fans and well-wishers for their support during the difficult time. “Thank you, everyone, for the love and support. It gave me strength in such a difficult time,” the actor added.
Flight cancelled amid conflict
Subhashree had travelled to Dubai last Saturday with her son for a holiday. However, their scheduled return flight to Kolkata on Wednesday night was cancelled amid tensions linked to the Iran–Israel conflict and the involvement of the United States and Israel.After being stuck for several days, the actor finally managed to return to India via Mumbai.Subhashree is one of the most popular actors in Bengali cinema and is known for films such as Challenge, Parineeta, Shontaan and Grihapravesh. She also received acclaim for her performance in the web series Indubala Bhaater Hotel.
Several celebrities stranded in UAE
Subhashree was among several celebrities who were stranded in the UAE due to flight disruptions. Sonal Chauhan had earlier appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for assistance before safely returning to Mumbai. Others who reported being stuck in the region included Esha Gupta, Ajith Kumar, badminton star PV Sindhu, Nargis Fakhri, Vishnu Manchu, Erica Fernandes, Rochelle Rao, Keith Sequeira, Swasika and Rohan Gandotra, many of whom later confirmed that they had safely returned to India.
