Varanasi: A student purusing post graduation, Prashant Mishra, lodged FIR with Lanka police alleging Banaras Hindu University unit of Samajwadi Chhatra Sabha president Himanshu Yadav asked him his caste and beat him up on the campus.ACP Bhelupur Gaurav Kumar on Thursday said Yadav was arrested following initial investigation. On the complaint of Mishra, forwarded to Lanka police station by the university proctorial board, police lodged FIR under BNS Sections 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 352 (intentional insult) and 351(3) (criminal intimidation).In his complaint, Mishra, MA (Hindi) final year student, said that on Wednesday, he was heading to his department when Yadav stopped him and asked his name and caste and in which class he was enrolled. “Yadav used abusive language and slapped me repeatedly and called me ‘Manuvadi’, besides threatening me of dire consequences,” said Mishra, adding that the entire incident was recorded on CCTV in the department.In the FIR, Mishra also mentioned the name of Yadav as unit president of Samajwadi Chhatra Sabha and requested university officials and police to protect his life.
