Ludhiana: A group of miscreants created ruckus in Sanjay Gandhi Colony on Chandigarh Road by pelting stones and brandishing swords on Wednesday night. Police are probing the reason for the hooliganism by the miscreants and is in the process of registering case into the matter.Local sources said that the trouble began around midnight near Gopal Mandir when abuses were hurled and stone-pelting started, creating panic in the area. They added that soon, around six to eight youths arrived on motorcycles carrying naked swords and other sharp-edged weapons.Locals sources further said that the miscreants made several rounds in the area and damaged two motorcycles. They added that the bike-borne youths repeatedly rode through the locality waving swords, forcing people to remain inside their homes in fear. In a video that came to fore from the incident, some of the youths were seen brandishing swords and filming themselves on mobile phones while creating the ruckus.Local sources said that stone-pelting from both sides of the street made the situation resemble a street battle. They alleged that although a PCR vehicle reached the area during the night, the miscreants would hide in narrow lanes after hearing the siren and start fighting once the police left. On Thursday morning, frightened residents submitted a written complaint to the Division Number 6 police station seeking action against the accused.SHO of the Division Number 6 police station, inspector Gagandeep Singh, said that the two groups live in the same area and they started fighting after heated argument. He added that police is in the process of registering case into the matter for offence of affray (public fighting) into the matter.The SHO confirmed that miscreants pelted stones, were brandishing swords and damaged two motorcycle.Officials said that all the accused in the case will be identified and arrested.
