Chennai: Chief minister M K Stalin, who was hospitalised after experiencing discomfort, said on Tuesday that he was continuing to discharge his official duties from hospital.Stalin reviewed the status of the ‘Ungaludan Stalin’ camps going on across the state. He held a discussion with chief secretary N Muruganandam about the progress of the programme and gave directions to ensure that momentum is not lost. “I inquired whether the camps are being held as scheduled, how many petitions were received till yesterday, and how many were resolved,” Stalin said in a social media post. He also instructed officials to act without delay in addressing public grievances and to ensure that camps are conducted with proper facilities.According to an official press release, doctors attending to the chief minister have permitted him to continue his administrative responsibilities from hospital. Meanwhile, deputy chief minister Udhayanidhi Stalin told reporters outside the hospital that Stalin’s health condition was stable. “Doctors have advised three days of rest for him. He will return home soon,” he said.From Apollo Hospital on Greams Road where he was admitted a day ago, Stalin was taken to Apollo Hospital at Teynampet for tests and shifted back.Earlier in the day, Stalin’s elder brother M K Alagiri visited the hospital to inquire about his health. Although Alagiri has stayed away from party affairs, he has been part of family affairs, particularly after Stalin personally oversaw the care of Alagiri’s son, Dayanidhi Alagiri, when he was hospitalised in 2024. Stalin also called on Alagiri during his Madurai visit in June this year.The chief minister’s scrutiny of the Ungaludan Stalin programme was followed by inspections by ministers and senior officials visiting multiple camp locations across the state on Tuesday to monitor their effectiveness, availability of services, and to interact with the public.According to latest reports, a total of 5,74,614 petitions have been received under the Ungaludan Stalin programme as of July 21. These petitions have been forwarded to the relevant govt departments for appropriate action, said the statement.
