Hyderabad: The Secondary School Certificate (SSC) Class 10 examinations in Telangana begin today with the first language paper, as around 5.1 lakh students from govt and private schools appear for the board exams across the state.Schools and teachers said preparations typically begin months in advance, with special coaching classes starting as early as July. These sessions help students revise the syllabus and strengthen key concepts before the examinations.Teachers noted that this year students received nearly 18 additional preparation days within the exam schedule, allowing more focused revision. Schools are inviting students for subject-wise sessions where teachers conduct concept discussions, short tests and review classes before each paper. Morning hours are also being used for quick revisions and practice assessments.“Usually we begin special classes from July or August. This year too we started early, and the govt has given 18 extra preparation days. Students are being called to school for revision classes and small tests to strengthen key concepts before each exam,” said Mutyala Ravinder from the Telangana Progressive Teachers Federation. He also urged the govt to ensure adequate fans and cold drinking water at exam centres so students can write exams comfortably.School managements, however, raised concerns about maintaining students’ study momentum during the extended exam period. The SSC examinations will continue until April 16 with several gap days between papers.“Since hall tickets are now available online, many students stop coming to school once they download them. Earlier we distributed hall tickets manually before exams, which ensured better attendance for revision classes,” said Madhusudhan Reddy, state president of the Telangana Recognised School Managements Association.Students, however, said they are using the gap days between exams to prepare better. “The breaks between exams help me revise the next subject properly, but I am trying to stay disciplined and avoid distractions,” said Mohammed Faizan, a Class 10 student in Hyderabad.
