Nagpur: One sports teacher post per cluster resource centre has been sanctioned across all Zilla Parishad cluster resource centres in Maharashtra, including 136 in Nagpur district, but service entry rules are yet to be finalised and no recruitment has begun, the Maharashtra Legislative Council was informed on Tuesday.MLC Abhijit Wanjari asked what action was taken to appoint sports teachers to Nagpur district’s 136 cluster centres. School education minister Dadadji Bhuse confirmed the post sanction but said recruitment could not begin until service rules were in place.A total of 4,860 posts of special teacher (sports) have been sanctioned statewide, one per cluster resource centre. Service entry rules and service conditions for the cadre are being finalised. Once complete, recruitment and appointment will be carried out.For the parallel cadre of special teacher (differently abled student instruction), also sanctioned at one post per centre, 2,984 of the 4,860 posts have been filled on a contractual basis with candidates holding Rehabilitation Council of India qualifications, in accordance with a Supreme Court directive and with cabinet approval. Filling of remaining posts in this cadre is also in progress.No timeline was provided for when service rules for the sports teacher cadre would be finalised, or when recruitment for the 136 Nagpur district posts would begin.
