Prayagraj: A speeding private school bus mowed down a 13-year-old boy and dragged him for 20m on Chakia-Barry Road in Fatehpur on Wednesday. While fleeing, the errant driver also hit a biker when he tried to stop the bus.SP (Fatehpur) Abhimanyu Manglik told TOI that the incident took place at around 7:30 am when Ayush Kumar of Barry village was going to his school on his cycle. The speeding bus carrying around 30 students and on its way to Shivpuri from Rakshapalpur mowed him down.According to police, a biker — Shalu Yadav (21) of Baraypur — chased the bus and asked the driver to stop, but was also hit by the vehicle, leaving him critically injured. He was rushed to Manjhanpur hospital for treatment.Angered by the incident, locals blocked Chakia Road for some time, disrupting vehicular movement.The SP said bus driver– Chaman singh of Charki– was later arrested and the vehicle seized.“A joint team of police and the RTO conducted an inquiry and found the driver was driving recklessly,” he said.Meanwhile, after hearing the death of Ayush, his friend, suffering from depression and illness, also died of shock. Officials said further details were being verified.
