Chennai: A speeding car rammed into multiple motorcycles in Thoraipakkam injuring five people on Monday night.According to reports, the car was travelling from Chennai towards Sholinganallur on Rajiv Gandhi Salai at high speed. Near the Thoraipakkam signal, where traffic was heavy, the car crashed into more than five motorcycles. The impact threw riders off their bikes, leaving five persons injured and damaging several vehicles.Other motorists chased the car and managed to intercept it a short distance away. The driver was pulled out of the vehicle and assaulted by the public before being handed over to police.The driver was identified as Bhaskaran ,47.Police have registered a case and are investigating whether the driver was under the influence of alcohol.
