Agartala: A special Pocso court in Tripura’s Khowai has sentenced a man to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 for raping a minor girl.The convict was found guilty of abducting the seven-year-old tribal girl from her home and sexually assaulting her in a nearby jungle in July 2020 when her parents were away. He had threatened the child with severe consequences if she tells anyone, including her parents, about the assault. Despite the threats, the girl later informed her parents, who lodged an FIR at Teliamura police station on July 21, 2020.Investigating officer Kamala Rani Murasing arrested the convict from his residence the next day. The charge sheet was filed in court in Oct, 2020.
