Panchkula: The police have set up special checkpoints at 15 key locations across the district to enhance night-time security. Officers are monitoring suspicious vehicles and activities to ensure effective crime control.All local police stations are also conducting day and night barricading operations under the supervision of their respective Station House Officers (SHOs).Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Srishti Gupta stated that the checks are being conducted for public safety and urged citizens to cooperate. “Ensuring public safety is our top priority, and we need active public participation to achieve it,” she said.She instructed night-duty personnel to stay alert and ensure no citizen is harassed. Officers at checkpoints have been directed to carry essential equipment, including torches, batons, reflector jackets, wireless sets, and alcosensors for drunk driving checks.Six checkpoints are equipped with alcosensors for intensive DUI checks. Strict action is being taken against offenders to ensure road safety.The DCP warned that negligence or unauthorized absence from duty will not be tolerated. Departmental action will be taken against any personnel found lacking in their responsibilities.
