Margao: A committee will be formed to address pending cases of unclaimed bodies in South Goa and Kushavati districts. At a meeting held to review the law and order situation, chaired by collector Egna Cleetus and co-chaired by SP Santosh Dessai, it was decided to formulate SOPs for the exercise.The committee will hold monthly meetings to review and monitor such cases, with directions that all pending matters be handled promptly and disposed of in a lawful and dignified manner.The meeting, attended by SDMs, DySPs, SDPOs and PIs from both districts, also reviewed the state of tenant verification, with directions issued to step up public awareness and outreach to ensure compliance.SDMs from South Goa and Kushavati informed the meeting that concerns over a potential fuel shortage remain under control. Officials also reported that no cases of illegal sand mining have been detected across either district.On law and order protocols, it was directed that deployment of an executive magistrate will be mandatory at events involving large public gatherings. Police stations have also been instructed to conduct regular monthly inspections of CCTV systems and record any discrepancies in the prescribed register.
