Noida: Police have arrested a man for allegedly killing his father after a dispute over unpaid instalments for a recently purchased car. The victim, Rakesh Kumar, a mixer truck driver who lived in the Yamuna floodplain area of Sector 135, was found dead with severe head injuries in the Wajidpur Doob area last Sunday. Rakesh, originally from Jarifnagar in Badaun district, lived with his wife, two sons and a daughter. His elder son, Satendra Kumar, had got married two months ago. According to police, Rakesh had purchased a car in his name but allowed Satendra to use it on the condition that he would pay the monthly instalments. However, the payments had reportedly not been made for the past two months, which led to frequent quarrels between the father and son. On Feb 28, Rakesh’s wife, younger son and daughter left for their native village in Badaun, leaving Rakesh and Satendra alone at home. That night, the two allegedly had another argument over the pending instalments. During the altercation, Satendra allegedly attacked his father with a tractor trolley connecting pin, crushing his head, and fled the house. The next morning, when Rakesh did not report to work, his contractor tried calling him several times but received no response. Concerned, the contractor went to his house and found him lying in a pool of blood. He alerted the police by dialling 112. Additional DCP Manisha Singh said police received information on March 1 about a body lying in the Doob area of Sector 135. A team from Expressway police station reached the spot, took the body into custody and launched an investigation. The family was informed about the incident and, based on a complaint from the victim’s father, a case was initially registered against unknown persons. During the probe, police learnt that Rakesh and Satendra had argued the night before the body was discovered. Satendra had reportedly left the house after the quarrel and returned only the next morning after police had reached the scene, initially claiming that he had been away throughout the night. After questioning neighbours and confirming the fight, police brought him in for interrogation, during which he allegedly confessed to the murder. The iron pin used in the crime was later recovered from his possession. Satendra was produced before a court on Saturday and sent to judicial custody, police said.
