Jaisalmer: In Barmer, the Special Operations Group (SOG) registered a case against three constables on Feb 9 after signature mismatches were detected during service record verification, nearly a decade after their recruitment. Officials said the constables could have allegedly used dummy candidates to appear for the 2014 constable recruitment exam, through which they secured appointments in 2015. The accused have been identified as Omprakash who is currently posted at Kotwali Police Station , Gangaram who is currently posted at Sedwa Police Station and Sumermal who is currently working in Anti Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) in Jaipur. The matter came to light during an investigation initiated following a report from the Barmer SP Narendra Singh Meena on 8 Oct 2025, after which SOG began examining the case that confirmed the discrepancies in service records of the three constables appointed in 2015. The investigation found that signatures in biometric application forms, OMR sheets and other documents of these constables did not match, raising suspicion of fraud. SOG DIG Paridesh Deshmukh said that based on the preliminary investigation conducted after the SP’s report, a case has been registered against the three constables. He said a more intensive investigation was under way, and other aspects related to the examination process and the role of possible accomplices were also being examined.
