Jalandhar: Punjab health and family welfare minister Dr Balbir Singh on Friday said around nine lakh health cards were issued so far in the state under the Mukhya Mantri Sehat Yojna.He also said the Punjab govt worked actively to cover every family in the state under the scheme.

Interacting with the mediapersons after a review meeting regarding the scheme at the district administrative complex here, the health minister claimed that more than 70% of patients in govt hospitals were treated free of cost under the scheme.He said the scheme was receiving an overwhelming response from the people of the state. “The enrolment process accelerated and at present, around 60,000 health cards are issued every day. To further speed up the process, additional staff and machinery are deployed. The number of registration camps will also be increased in the coming days,” said Dr Balbir Singh.The minister informed that the Punjab govt had already released Rs 500 crore to the insurance partner to ensure timely payments to all empanelled hospitals.
