Jaipur: Doctors from the state-run SMS Hospital will conduct mandatory basic life support (BLS) training for all traffic officials under Jaipur Police Commissionerate from Monday morning. The initiative aims to equip traffic personnel to provide immediate first-response care to accident victims on city roads, before medical teams arrive.
“Traffic police act as first responders in road accidents. To ensure that all traffic police personnel are trained in BLS, training will be provided to them by experts from SMS Hospital. We have divided the police officials into batches, each comprising 50 personnel,” stated DCP traffic Sumit Meharda.Officials said they were hopeful that BLS training will reduce the number of deaths caused by lack of timely first-aid for those injured in road accidents. BLS training camps will be organised for traffic police every Monday from 9am to 12pm at the Skill Lab, SMS Trauma Centre, Jaipur, in collaboration with Rotary Club Jaipur Citizen. “Traffic officials will also be trained in CPR to assist those injured in road accidents. Experienced trainers from SMS Hospital will provide the training,” an official said.
